17 Weeks and Counting...

  • How far along: 17 Weeks
  • Total Weight Gained: 3 lbs
  • Sleep: I need some! Griffin has decided to wake several times over the last two nights.... yawn!
  • Best Moment of the Week(s): I was telling Griffin that we were going to go see a friends new baby, and he got upset and yelled "no, I want to see our baby!" haha! Sorry buddy- we got a long way to go.
  • Movement: Nope. I am not the most observant though. Last time around I would notice when I laid down, but now I am asleep as soon as a lay down so who knows?
  • Food Cravings: Salmon this week. I have wanted it a bunch lately. But thats not really out of the ordinary.
  • Food Aversions: None this week.
  • Morning Sickness: Still gagging when I sneeze or cough (more so in the mornings). Gross.
  • Symptoms:Very tried. Back pain. Shortness of breath.
  • What I miss: ENERGY!!
  • What I'm looking forward to: June 10th when we find out the gender! Picking out a name.
  • Other news: Griffin will now tell you that the baby is not coming until November.... so if you say the baby is in my belly he will say "no, not until November!" Ha! Such a hard concept to get. We found out Haven and Bro are having a girl this week, which made Griffin super happy. He still really wants us to have a girl too... so we shall see.
  • Names: We havent done a ton of talking about names this time around. I have thrown out lots of ideas and Mr.Pate has disliked almost all of them. Ha! I would just rather wait until we know the gender and then start brainstorming this time.
And for comparison, 17 weeks with Baby #2...
Versus 17 weeks with Griffin...
If it keeps up, I may not be able to walk by the end of this! haha!

Happy Birthday Kiki!

Last weekend we also went to a birthday party for one of Griffin's classmates, Kiki. They have been in the same class for almost 2 years, and they adore each other!

When Kiki saw us walking up, she flipped out and yelled " it's Griffin Alan Pate"!! Yep, full name. Haha!! It was so cute. I love watching them all grow up and actually play together now. Precious.

Sesame Street Live!

Last weekend we went to Sesame Street Live here in town. Griffin is still a pretty big fan, so we were all excited to see how he would like it. My parents and Uncle D came with us also. Apart from a horrible food experience beforehand, we had a great time!

Griffin LOVED it! We had perfect seats so we could see awesome but also had no one around us. Griffin sat and danced and laughed the whole show.

My parents bought him the cd of the show before we headed in... Which makes me want to kill them every time I am driving now :-) haha!!!

Overall, I was so impressed with how Griffin did and I was so glad we went. It was so fun watching him get so excited about the characters!

Lately

We have been enjoying our swing set again...

We found out the Broady's are having a girl! (Griffin was thrilled)

My little man got his first haircut with clippers! He looks really grown up now...

Joey got to ride with him the other day, and he was so excited!

Daddy and Uncle D have been super fun...

I began watching One Tree Hill from the beginning again. And I am wondering if any fans have ever noticed that Karen's house in the pilot is green with a screen porch?! Totally not the house they went with after the pilot. Random.

  • Food Cravings: Not really.

Wedding Time!

Last night I headed to my cousin Travis's wedding in Nashville. They got married at a gorgeous location, and the wedding was beautiful! It was so nice to see my extended family and get to catch up (on my mom's side). Those opportunities have been sparse since my Mema's passing. I didn't do a great job gettin pictures of everyone before they left, but enjoy what I did get!

Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Travis Sparks!

(My mom and her siblings)

Ok so I was running late as always, so I had to watch the ceremony from an awning overlooking the area... But I could see how pretty it was and I was in shade, so kinda a win! Ha! Apparently lots of their family and friends have punctuality issues like me, bc there were like 20 of us up there! Haha!

Telling our Fam

So after the news had really sunk in for Mr.Pate and I, we had to figure out how to tell our family. We decided to write "Big Brother League" on a piece of paper and send them this picture saying "Guess who is being called up to the big brother league?"

They all loved it of course, and were sooo excited. My mom texted me thinking I was just kidding... silly woman.

14 Weeks and Counting...

  • How far along: 14 Weeks
  • Total Weight Gained: 1 lb (though this time around I started out at what I finished at with Griffin :-( so I am hoping I do not gain much)
  • Maternity Clothes: Ugh, this time around I had to start wearing maternity pants at like 8 weeks!! Seriously! My belly popped out so fast. So all maternity pants and some tops now.
  • Sleep:  Still sleeping on my belly and loving every minute of it!
  • Best Moment of the Week(s): Griffin walking into daycare and asking if a little baby was our baby. Ha! He is so excited. Also, I announced on facebook and got so much love and excitement!
  • Movement: Too early, I still cant feel anything.
  • Food Cravings: Nope.
  • Food Aversions: Not specifics really, but see below.
  • Morning Sickness: Yes. I have been sick quite a bit more this time around. No fun. My gag reflex is on hyper-drive and smells really get to me.
  • Symptoms: Major fatigue. I have been soooo soo tired. Shortness of breath when I do anything slightly taxing.
  • What I miss: Not being tired and having energy to play with my sona nd stay up with my husband. I feel like I am wasting my time.
  • What I'm looking forward to: A second baby!!! Seeing Griffin be a big brother!
And for a comparison from last time to this time, just so you can see how crazy my stomach is this time...

Finding Out this time around

I found out late February that we were expecting. It was actually very funny because one of my best friends found out she was pregnant on a Monday, and as she was texting me I was thinking "you know I might just be too!" Ha! I didn't decide to take a test until Thursday though. And I didn't mention anything to Mr. Pate because I wanted to actually tell him in some fun way if I was preggo.

So that Thursday we had a county-wide worship service for the youth groups and Mr. Pate was speaking. So I picked up Griffin and waited at home for the babysitter (Momma Susan) while he went there early to setup. I took the test right before she got there, and thought I was gonna just blurt it out when I saw her! Ha! But I didn't and went on to the event.

It was hard waiting to tell Mr. Pate, but I definitely didn't want to tell him before he spoke! So I held it in. I ended up blurting it out to him later that night- and once again I couldn't wait long enough to do something fun! Ha!

Guess what?!

The Pate family is adding another little one in November!

I am currently 14 weeks and will begin updating the blog on all the details soon, but let's go ahead and say this time around is definitely different! I am exhausted! Whew!
